About Cally Farrer
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 15 years experience in mental health and substance misuse services. My work is structured, collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in compassion.
Professional background
I am the Director of The Farrer Therapy Group Ltd and the Founder of Peers in Practice, a professional community supporting therapists working in complex clinical areas.
My career has spanned NHS services, third-sector organisations, and specialist addiction settings. This breadth of experience allows me to work confidently and compassionately with clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin.
Specialist interests
Organisation, planning, emotional regulation, routines, and follow-through.
Urges, relapse prevention, shame cycles, and safer coping strategies.
Understanding how traits, coping strategies, and cycles of use can interact.
Support when anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-criticism, or relationship patterns overlap.
What therapy is like
We begin by understanding what has been happening and what you would like support with.
We develop a shared understanding of what is keeping the difficulty going.
We agree goals that feel meaningful, realistic, and useful.
We practise strategies that support change inside and outside sessions.
We track progress and plan for the future.
Professional standards
As a BABCP-accredited therapist, I work to high professional and ethical standards. I receive regular clinical supervision, engage in ongoing training, and use approaches supported by current research.
